The Australian family favourite. 26 litres a minute, no cold run-out.

The G26 is the benchmark for a typical Australian family home: two to three bathrooms, a busy kitchen and a laundry. It is also the sweet spot for anyone who has been paying to heat a storage tank that sits idle all day and still runs out on a busy Sunday morning.
A storage tank is empty right after the morning rush, and the last person in gets cold water. The G26 has no tank at all — hot water is generated the moment you turn the tap.
With a storage system you pay to keep 150–200 litres hot around the clock, every day, whether you are home or not. A continuous flow unit only burns gas when hot water is actually drawn.
26 L/min handles two showers and a sink tap running together — the everyday reality of a family getting ready at the same time.
At 19.3 kg in a slim wall-mount format, the G26 frees up the space a storage tank and its relocatable pipework would have occupied.
Choose 50°C for safe general use or 60°C for a hotter delivery, and the microcomputer controller holds it there within a fraction of a degree.
Install in a solar pre-heat configuration and use free solar-collected heat to offset your gas use further through the year.
Every feature below is a genuine engineering decision — and every one of them exists to make hot water more reliable, more efficient or easier to live with.
No tank, no standby heat loss, no waiting. Here is exactly what happens the moment you turn on the hot tap.
A precision flow sensor detects incoming water — even at a trickle of 2.0 L/min.
The microcomputer-controlled gas proportional valve meters gas precisely, delivering a steady flame matched to the flow rate.
Hot gas transfers energy through the oxygen-free copper heat exchanger into the incoming cold water.
Microcomputer monitoring holds the outlet temperature steady. Close the tap and the burner shuts off instantly — there is no stored hot water sitting there losing energy.

Good preparation makes for a clean, fast install. Here is what the G26 needs from your property.
IPX4 weatherproof casing is designed for permanent external installation on an outside wall, ideally with a roof or overhang above the unit.
Gas, cold water and hot water connections are all 3/4-inch (20mm) threaded — the standard Australian size, so existing pipework usually connects straight up.
Suitable for normal Australian mains water pressure. A pressure limiting valve is recommended where local pressure exceeds 1000 kPa.
The unit needs a standard 240V – 50Hz outlet for the electronic controls and fan. Your installer will confirm the closest suitable outlet.
An optional wired controller lets you set temperature and check status from inside the home — useful for units mounted in a hard-to-reach position.
Everything Australian buyers and installers ask us most often about the G26.
For three bathrooms used at the same time, we would recommend stepping up to the G30. The G26 is designed for two to three bathrooms in a typical household — meaning two showers can run at once with headroom for a tap, but it is right at its limit with three showers running simultaneously. Your installer will confirm based on your family's actual routine.
Star ratings measure how much gas is consumed to deliver a fixed volume of hot water at a given temperature, so a higher star rating means less gas for the same shower. The G26 achieves 6 stars on a 198 MJ/hr input — notably lower gas draw than the G30, because it is sized to the demand rather than to the maximum. The exact dollar saving depends on your gas tariff, usage and inlet water temperature, so treat any saving figure as a guide rather than a promise.
Yes — the G26 is solar pre-heat compatible. In a solar pre-heat arrangement, a solar collector delivers pre-heated water to the unit, offsetting part of the gas consumption. This is a good pairing for households with rooftop solar and gas already installed. Your installer will confirm the pipework routing and the tempering valve arrangement your system needs.
Both share the same core engineering: a 6-star rating, an oxygen-free copper heat exchanger, a 10-year heat exchanger warranty and identical 50°C/60°C pre-sets. The G30 delivers 30 L/min on a 235 MJ/hr input and is physically larger at 22.0 kg; the G26 delivers 26 L/min on a leaner 198 MJ/hr input at 19.3 kg. The G30 is for three or more bathrooms, the G26 for two to three.
For most Australian households, yes. A storage tank loses heat continuously just to stay ready, has a finite capacity that can run out, and takes up considerably more space. A continuous flow unit heats water only on demand, so there is no standby loss, no cold run-out and no tank. The trade-off is that a correctly sized continuous flow unit costs more to buy and requires a licensed gas fitter to install — both of which are recovered over the unit's life through lower running costs.
The G26 measures 571 mm high × 394 mm wide × 166 mm deep and weighs 19.3 kg. It is a slim wall-mount unit — roughly the footprint of a medium suitcase mounted flat against a wall, with pipe connections beneath. Clearances around the unit must meet the manufacturer's installation instructions, which your installer will work to.
Yes. A wired controller is available as an optional accessory, letting you adjust the outlet temperature and check operating status without walking out to the unit. It is genuinely useful when the heater is mounted in a garage, a side yard or a roof space.
Yes. Continuous flow gas water heaters must be installed, commissioned and certified by a licensed gas fitter, and the certificate must be provided. Every unit Ginkgo Australia sells is approved to Australian standards, but the installation and commissioning are what make it safe and compliant on your property.
